2016 FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

QUIZ: WEEK #12

RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down, distance and succeeding spot (example: A 1/10 A40). If relevant, also include other information such as whether the 25 or 40-second play clock will be used, whether the game clock starts on the ready or snap or if there will be an extension of the period.

1. PLAY: 4th/goal B10. A7's field goal attempt is blocked and hits the ground on B's 7. The ball then rebounds to B's 13 where B44 muffs it. A84 recovers on B's 9. NOTE: Same play as Quiz #3, Play #1. RULE CHANGE ALERT.

2. PLAY: 4th/15 B45. A8's untouched punt breaks the plane of B's goal line and is batted back into the field of play by A88. The ball is on B's 12 where it is muffed, including accidentally kicked, before going out of bounds on B's 36. B76 holds A84 on B's 47 during the kick.

3. PLAY: Try B3. The score is A28-B28. Time has expired in the fourth quarter. A6's kick is wide right. During the down, A49 threw B97 to the ground by twisting B97's face mask on B's 7. A49 committed an unsportsmanlike foul (taunting) earlier in the game.

4. PLAY: 4th/10 A30. A4's punt is illegally touched by A88 on B's 32. B44 picks up the ball, runs to B's 37 and fumbles. A23 picks up the fumble and is running at B's 14 when B56 jumps on his back. A23 struggles toward Team B's goal line and is finally downed on B's 2. B72 commits a holding foul during A23's run to allow B56 to reach the ball carrier.

5. PLAY: Try B3. Team A scored a touchdown to make the score A28-B28 as time expired in the fourth quarter during the down. A8's kick is blocked. B44 recovers on B's 2 and voluntarily retreats into B's end zone where he throws an incomplete forward pass.

6. PLAY: 1st/10 A20. All Team A interior linemen legally shift into a three-point stance except for A77. All 11 players are set for two seconds. The ball is snapped as A77 is slowly, very slowly, moving from a hands on knees position to a three-point stance. After the snap, B44 intercepts A16’s legal forward pass and runs for an apparent touchdown.

7. PLAY: 4th/7 A33. The score is A24-B20 near the end of the fourth quarter. The snap goes over potential punter A6's head. A6 recovers the ball on A's 8 and throws the ball over A's end line.
