2016 FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

QUIZ: WEEK #1

RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down, distance and succeeding spot (example: A 1/10 A40). If relevant, also include other information such as whether the 25 or 40-second play clock will be used, whether the game clock starts on the ready or snap or if there will be an extension of the period.

1. PLAY: 4th/18 A22. The score is A28-B24. A6's punt is rolling on B's 49 when A85 illegally kicks the ball downfield. B44 recovers and advances to A's 1 where he is downed. Time expires in the fourth quarter during the down.

2. PLAY: 4th/12 B42. A8's untouched punt breaks the plane of B's goal line and is batted back into the field of play by A88. B44 (or A44) recovers on B's 4 while grounded. A65 commits a holding foul on B's 49 during the down.

3. PLAY: 4th/4 B44. QB A18 runs the option with trailing back A33. A18 is about to get tackled on B's 42 when he pitches the ball backward. A33 catches the ball on B's 46 and immediately punts the ball from B's 45. The ball rolls out of bounds on B's 4.

4. PLAY: 3rd/10 B30. The score is A28-B28. A67's helmet comes off on his initial block with no helmet foul (no foul at all). A33 advances to B's 18 where he fumbles. B44 recovers and advances to B's 39 where he is tackled by A67. A67 stayed in place until he saw B44 in player possession. Time expires in the fourth quarter during the down.

5. PLAY: 2nd/7 B37. Prior to the snap, A82 replaces A87 who leaves the field. B96 breaks from his end position into the backfield and the play is shut down. A82 never got inside the numbers.

6. PLAY: 4th/8 B38. Airborne A88 controls A16's legal forward pass near the sideline when B44 leads with his head and there is helmet to helmet contact with airborne A88. A88 lands inbounds with the ball and immediately falls out of bounds on B's 26.

7. PLAY: 4th/15 A15. A4's punt is blocked and the ball does not cross the neutral zone. A86 then intentionally kicks the rolling ball on A's 4. The ball rolls out of bounds on A's 31.
