2013 FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

QUIZ: WEEK #11

RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down, distance and succeeding spot (example: A 1/10 A40). If relevant, also include other information such as whether the 25 or 40-second play clock will be used, whether the game clock starts on the ready or snap, if ZAP 10 is a factor or if there will be an extension of the period.

1. PLAY: 3rd/2 B12. Neither team has timeouts remaining. A33 is downed on B’s 9. As the U backs away from the ball but before the R signals ready for play, the ball is snapped. The game clock shows 0:09.

2. PLAY: 4th/16 A34. A4's punt is blocked, lands on A's 36 and rebounds behind the neutral zone. A4 bats the ball forward on A's 24 and the ball goes out of bounds on A's 27.

3. PLAY: 4th/10 A30. The score is A24-B24. B44 is in position to catch A6's punt on B's 32 when A88 drives his shoulder into B44's shoulder before the ball arrives. B22 recovers the ball on B's 26 and advances to A's 26 where he is downed. Time expires in the fourth quarter during the down. The referee announces that the interference with opportunity foul also involved targeting and A88 is disqualified. Replay reverses the targeting aspect of the personal foul.

4. PLAY: 3rd/6 B46. Ball carrier A88 is hit on B's 42 at the sideline and falls forward and out of bounds. When the ball is declared dead in possession of A88, the ball is outside the sideline at B's 40 extended. The ball, in possession of A88, crossed the sideline on B's 41-1/2.

5. PLAY: 3rd/8 A32. Team A is going into a strong wind in the first quarter. QB A14 is chased backward by B96 and illegally grounds a forward pass on A's 18 to save loss of yardage. Time expires in the first quarter during the down. Extend period?

6. PLAY: 2/16 A4. QB A14 drops back to pass, has to scramble and is sacked in his end zone. While A14 was still in the pocket, before his scramble, B36 blocked eligible receiver A83 below the waist on A's 6. Game clock?

7. PLAY: 4th/8 A32. A5's punt is blocked on A's 20 and lands on A's 36 where B56 accidentally kicks the ball in attempting to pick it up. A72 recovers on A's 25 and ambles down the field for a touchdown.
