2013 FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

QUIZ: WEEK #5

RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down, distance and succeeding spot (example: A 1/10 A40). If relevant, also include other information such as whether the 25 or 40-second play clock will be used, whether the game clock starts on the ready or snap, if ZAP 10 is a factor or if there will be an extension of the period.

1. PLAY: 4th/8 A42. A6 punts. A84 illegally touches the ball on B's 28 and recovers the ball on B's 22. During the down, A58 pulled B66 down by the face mask on B's 43. A84 commits a dead ball noncontact foul. Team B wants the ball.


2. PLAY: 4th/goal B9. The score is A24-B28. A15 muffs the snap. The ball rolls to B's 12 where A33 picks up the ball and advances across B's goal line. Time expires in the fourth quarter during the down.


3. PLAY: 4th/6 B46. A87 bats A4's untouched punt from B's end zone back into the field of play. The ball never touches the ground on B's end zone. The ball hits on B's 4 where B44 recovers, advances to B's 16 and fumbles. A67 recovers and advances to B's 14 where he fumbles. B74 recovers while grounded on B's 12. A56 commits a personal foul on B's 24 during the punt.


4. PLAY: 4th/8 A42. A9 punts. B33 gives a valid fair catch signal ten yards in front of B44. B44 catches the kick on B's 22 and advances to B's 39 where he is downed. No official saw the waving signal.


5. PLAY: 3rd/goal B8. The score is A27-B28. Ten seconds remain in the fourth quarter. A7's field goal attempt is blocked and simultaneously recovered by A63 and B75 on B's 12. Four seconds remain on the clock. Game clock?


6. PLAY: 1st/10 B12. QB A18 is running a sprint out toward the side line and is hit on B's 6. The ball shoots up in the air and just as A34 is about to catch the ball on B's 7, B66 bats the ball to B's 14 where B56 recovers the ball while grounded.


7. PLAY: 3rd/16 A24. A36 advances to A's 27 where B55 pulls A36's face mask causing A36 to fumble. B68 recovers and advances to A's 8 when an inadvertent whistle sounds. Game clock?
