2012 FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

QUIZ: WEEK #6

RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down, distance and succeeding spot (example: A 1/10 A40). If relevant, also include other information such as whether the 25 or 40-second play clock will be used, whether the game clock starts on the ready or snap, if ZAP 10 is a factor or if there will be an extension of the period.

1. PLAY: Try B3. Team A scored a touchdown to make the score A28-B28 as time expired during the down. A8's kick is blocked. B44 recovers on B's 2 and voluntarily retreats into B's end zone where he throws an incomplete forward pass.


2. PLAY: 4th/10 A40. The score is tied with ten seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. A18's legal forward pass is complete to A88 who advances to B's 18 where he fumbles when hit from behind. A74 recovers on B's 12 while grounded. B67 roughs the passer. Two seconds remain on the game clock.


3. PLAY: 1st/10 A20. All Team A interior linemen legally shift into a three-point stance except for A77. All 11 players are set for two seconds. The ball is snapped as A77 is slowly, very slowly, moving from a hands on knees position to a three-point stance. B44 intercepts A16’s legal forward pass and runs for an apparent touchdown.


4. PLAY: 4th/7 A33. The score is A24-B20 near the end of the fourth quarter. The snap goes over potential punter A6's head. A6 recovers the ball on A's 8 and throws the ball over A's end line.


5. PLAY: 4th/11 B41. B44 muffs A8's scrimmage kick on B's 7 and the ball rolls into B's end zone. B44 picks up the ball and starts to run but fumbles the ball while still in B's end zone. B56 recovers on B's 2 and advances to B's 8 where he is downed. During B44's fumble, A74 blocks B55 below the waist at B's 6.


6. PLAY: 4th/3 B6. A32 is hit and fumbles the ball on B's 4. B55 kicks the grounded loose ball backwards from B's 3 into and through Team B's end zone.


7. PLAY (REPLAY): 2nd/10 B40. A88 catches A12's legal forward pass and advances for a touchdown. During A88's run, A88 reaches out and twists B56's face mask on B's 12. Replays show that the pass was incomplete.
