2. RULING: B 1/10 A25. The result of the play is A 1/10 A42 since B75 was the first player to touch the ball after the kick crossed the neutral zone. The neutral zone is expanded three yards for the blocking of a low scrimmage kick. Otherwise it is not expanded. A64 interfered with B75’s opportunity to catch the kick. The 15-yard penalty is enforced from the spot of the foul, A’s 40. If no Team A player was near B75, it would be A 1/10 A42. NOTE: Play occurred in 2010 Division III game in 2010. (dr110101).
3. RULING: B 1/10 B39. B44 muffed the ball and had an opportunity to catch the ball in the immediate vicinity of the muff. A88 commits an interference with opportunity foul on B's 39. The 15-yard penalty is enforced from the spot of the foul, B's 39. The ball became dead when caught by A85. The 15-yard penalty for B44's dead ball foul is enforced from the succeeding spot, A's 46. 4. RULING: B 1/10 B35. There is no restriction on a Team B player going out of bounds and returning back inbounds. B44 completed the catch. The result of the play is a touchback. The 15-yard penalty for A88's face mask foul is enforced from B's 20. (kw102010)
5. RULING: Unsuccessful try. The ball does not become dead until recovered by A64 in B's end zone. Although Team B will not next snap the ball, by rule there is a spot of illegal touching and this nullifes the score by Team A. It is reasonable to asume that Rule 6-3-2-a is not intended to imply that Team B must next snap the ball. Or, it is not reasonable to assume that Team A scores two points on the try.
6. RULING: A 1/goal B6; Snap. The clock starts on the snap. The pass by A44 is a legal forward pass. The advance by A88 is legal. The clock was stopped at the end of a legal kick down so starts on the snap since the next play is not a free kick or a try.
7. RULING: Safety. B f/k B20 The score is A26-B24. During a loose ball, a player may push but may not pull if they can legally catch or recover the loose ball. Team A will free kick from A's 20 since the penalty was accepted for a live ball foul during the last timed down of the period. The momentum rule does not apply since the ball became dead in the field of play. The basic enforcement spot is the end of B44's run which is in B's end zone.
