QUIZ: WEEK #6

RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down, distance and succeeding spot (example: A 1/10 A40). If relevant, also include other information such as whether the 25 or 40-second play clock will be used, whether the game clock starts on the ready or snap or if there will be an extension of the period.

1. PLAY: Third and 17 on B's 47. Score: A24-B26. Quarter: 4. Game clock: 0:52. A88 catches A19's legal forward pass while running down the sideline and is downed inbounds on B's 28 bringing up A 1/10 B28. Replay shows that the pass was caught inbounds so no buzz. After the ready, A68 false starts. B94 comes across the line and commits a personal foul. After the penalties are enforced, it is A 1/10 B18. Just prior to the snap, Team B's coach challenges the third down play stating that A88 stepped on the sideline prior to catching the pass. Replay reverses the call as A88 did step on the sideline prior to touching the pass.


2. PLAY: Third and 12 on B's 32. Score: A26-B28. A16's legal forward pass is muffed by A86 on B's 26 and falls incomplete. B44 is called for defensive pass interference on B's 27 when he holds A86 to prevent A86 from extending his arms for the ball. The officials enforce the penalty making it A 1/10 B27. Two seconds remain in the fourth quarter. Team A sends in the field goal team. Replay shows that the pass was touched prior to B44's foul. Reviewable?


3. PLAY: Third and 21 on B's 31. Third quarter. A87 scrambles and runs out of bounds on B's 12. During A87's run, A64 held B96 on B's 29. Immediately after A87 was out of bounds, A66 threw B54 down by the face mask on B's 28. Clock?


4. PLAY: Third and 12 on B's 42. A88 is moving to catch A16's legal forward pass when he is contacted on B's 2 by B44 who is not playing the ball. Immediately after the contact, B45 intercepts the pass in front of A88 on B's 4 and advances to A's 8 where he is downed. Clock?


5. PLAY: Free kick on A's 30. While A6's free kick is airborne, B58 blocks A49 below the waist at A's 45. B44 catches the ball on B's 20 and advances to A's 40 where he is downed.


6. PLAY: Fourth and 11 on B's 26. Extra period. Second series. Score: A28-B28. A6's field goal attempt is blocked but continues downfield. B44 picks up the ball on B's 10 and is downed on B's 15. During the kick, B45 blocked A80 below the waist on B's 18.


7. PLAY: Second and 12 on B's 22. B44 intercepts A16's legal forward pass on B's 1 and carries the ball into B's end zone where he is downed. The ruling on the field is B 1/10 B1. Replay is unable to determine whether the pass was caught in the field of play or B's end zone. Reviewable?
