UNSUCCESSFUL FIELD GOALS (8-4-2-b-1)

2011 Rule 8-4-2-b states in part, "When the ball is declared dead beyond the neutral zone and is untouched by Team B beyond the neutral zone, it belongs to Team B". 2010 Rule 8-4-2-b is similar except that the wording is "...the ball is untouched by Team B after having crossed the neutral zone". Rule 6-3-3 states, "When a scrimmage kick that has crossed the neutral zone touches a player of the receiving team who is inbounds, any player may catch or recover the ball. 4th and 1 on B's 11. A4's untouched field goal attempt strikes the ground beyond the neutral zone and bounces backward. B96 muffs the ball on B's 12 and the ball rolls out of bounds on B's 9.
B 1/10 20. The ball was declared dead beyond the neutral zone. The ball was not touched by a Team B player beyond the neutral zone. In 2010, B 1/10 B9 since Team B touched the ball after the kick crossed the neutral zone.

4th and 4 on B's 14. A4's field goal attempt strikes the ground beyond the neutral zone and bounces backward to B's 16 where B73 bats the ball backward and out of bounds on B's 12.
B 1/10 B20. The ball was declared dead beyond the neutral zone. The ball was not touched by a Team B player beyond the neutral zone. In 2010, B 1/10 B9 since Team B touched the ball after the kick crossed the neutral zone.

4th and 1 on B's 11. A4's untouched field goal attempt strikes the ground beyond the neutral zone and bounces backward. B96 muffs the ball on B's 12 (or bats the ball backward) and the ball rolls to B's 9 where A66 recovers.
A 1/G B9. The ball was declared dead beyond the neutral zone. The ball was not touched by a Team B player beyond the neutral zone. However, Rule 6-3-3 trumps Rule 8-4-2-b-1.

4th and 4 on B's 14. A4's field goal attempt is wide left, wide right or hits untouched in B's end zone.
B 1/10 B20. The ball was declared dead beyond the neutral zone. Team B did not touch the ball beyond the neutral zone.

4th and 4 on B's 24. A4's untouched field goal attempt rolls to B's 8 where it goes out of bounds, is recovered by a Team A player or is blown dead when no player attempts to recover the ball.
B 1/10 B24. The ball became dead beyond the neutral zone. Team B did not touch the ball beyond the neutral zone. The ball is spotted on the previous spot, not rotated. The down indicator is moved about 11 inches to the opposite end of the ball.

4th and 6 on B's 11. A4's untouched field goal attempt rolls to B's 2 where it is recovered by a Team B player while grounded.
B 1/10 B2. The ball became dead beyond the neutral zone. Team B touched the ball beyond the neutral zone.

4th and 4 on B's 14. A4's untouched field goal attempt strikes the ground beyond the neutral zone and bounces backward. It then goes goes out of bounds or is recovered and downed by either team at (a) B's 18; or (b) B's 22
(a) B 1/10 B18; or (b) B 1/10 B22. The ball was not declared dead beyond the neutral zone.
